ANOTHER live music event is to take place in Scotland, adding to BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend.

Around 4,000 free tickets are being made available for Radio 1Xtra Live, an outdoor gig at Glasgow's Riverside Museum on May 17. A host of DJs including MistaJam, Charlie Sloth, DJ Fresh, Duke Dumont and Breach will play at the event, a week before Pharrell Williams, Rita Ora and Paolo Nutini perform at the Big Weekend festival in the city.

The event is part of the BBC's build up to the Commonwealth Games which are being held in Glasgow in July and August. Tickets will be made available online next weekend, with the majority set aside for people living in Glasgow and the rest of Scotland.

Jason Carter, head of live music and events, said: "For the very first time we are adding to the excitement and build-up to Radio 1's Big Weekend. With this amazing line-up and event on the banks of the River Clyde, it's promising to be a fantastic precursor to all of our events in Glasgow."

The festival will be held on May 24-25 at Glasgow Green.
