Motorcyclist killed in van crash

A motorcyclist has died following a crash on an island causeway.

The 52-year-old man was involved in a collision with two vans on the A961 at Churchill Barrier 2 in Orkney at around 4.25pm yesterday.

No-one else was injured.

The road was closed for around eight hours while police carried out investigations.

Police Scotland appealed for information about the incident.

All three vehicles were travelling in a northerly direction at the time of the crash.
