The Nissan Almera driver succumbed to his injuries yesterday after Wednesday night's accident on the A9 near Carrbridge.
He had been cut out of his car by firefighters after the collision with a Scania lorry.
Three fire service crews and attended the scene.
The victim, who has not been named, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
The A9 has been at the centre of safety campaigns with calls for the the stretch between Perth and Inverness dualled and plans for average speed cameras. It has been described as Scotland's most dangerous road.
Police have asked any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
