Scotland's mountaineers are mobilising opposition over second attempt to site a wind farm on a famous Highland mountain.

However, the developers say they have their geography wrong.

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland says the site earmarked for development of up to 19 turbines is on Carn Gorm, which is on the southern slopes of the Ben Wyvis massif, north west of Dingwall.

PI Renewables Ltd of West Calder in West Lothian insist it is not on Ben Wyvis massif, but to the west of it.

The MCofS officials say they are astonished that a developer could even consider siting a wind farm there.

But Simon Morton, one of PI's directors, said: "Our project is not on the Ben Wyvis Massif. We were very mindful of the previous plan, which had threatened iconic views."
