The redevelopment of a hospital for patients with mental health problems has taken another step forward, with plans being submitted for approval.

A planning application has been submitted to get the go-ahead for the Royal Edinburgh Hospital project.

A detailed planning application has been put forward for the first phase of the project - a £48 million state- of-the-art facility which would provide inpatient care.

The hospital in Morningside provides acute psychiatric and mental health care, including the treatment of those with learning difficulties and dementia.
