LED Zeppelin, a song from The Muppet Show, and a "relaxed and dapper" dress code set the tone for a memorial service for writer Iain Banks.

The service was held in Stirling yesterday, following a small and private humanist funeral for Banks last month.

Friend and fellow author Ian Rankin was among those who attended.

Rankin posted the playlist from the service on Twitter yesterday afternoon, with songs including Mahna Mahna from The Muppets, Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, and Jackson Browne's For A Dancer. Always Look On The Bright Side of Life was also played, said Rankin.

TS Eliot's The Wasteland was printed on the order of service.

Rankin tweeted: "Off to Stirling this morning for the Iain Banks memorial service. Dress code: relaxed and dapper. Like the man himself."

Banks died in early June after becoming ill with gall bladder cancer.
