Murder inquiry continues

A GRANDFATHER was involved in a "significant physical altercation" at a house shortly before he was found lying in a street, detectives investigating his murder have revealed.

John McMurchie, 50, was discovered in Dundee's Fintry Terrace at about 4am on Sunday, August 12, last year. He died a short time later in Ninewells Hospital.

Police seized a house in Dundee's Murrayfield Gardens where Mr McMurchie, a father-of-five and grandfather-of-two from Errol in Perthshire, was known to have been socialising before he died.

Detective Inspector Bobby Dow said: "While we have returned the house to the occupier, our inquiries are continuing to establish exactly what happened the night of John's murder and who is responsible."
