THE former head of the famous Scots ice cream empire Nardini's left a fortune of almost £400,000 in his will.

Pete Nardini, who passed away aged 78 in June this year, ran the famous seaside café in Largs, Ayrshire, with his family for more than 40 years.

However a series of bitter family feuds and courts cases saw the business broken up and it eventually went bust with £1 million of debts.

Mr Nardini's recently-published will reveals that he had an estate valued at £397,155 at the time of his death. The businessman, of Largs, left his entire estate to his widow Catriona.

The father-of-four's estate was mainly made up of his £350,000 home in Largs. He also had £17,144 held in a stocks and shares ISA and £11 in premium bonds. The business was started by his grandfather Pietro Nardini, an Italian immigrant.
