New row at Law Society as half its members reject constitution

THE strife-torn Law Society of Scotland has been left in constitutional limbo after a stormy annual meeting.

A summit at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow yesterday saw a motion to rescind the existing constitution defeated by a vote of 820 for and 743 against.

A minimum of two-thirds of members (1042) were required to vote in favour for the motion to be passed.
