North Sea firm denies spill claims

ONE of the North Sea's largest offshore operators has been charged over an alleged oil spill.

TAQA Bratani faces court action over claims it breached pollution-prevention regulations at its North Cormorant rig and failed to ensure that equipment was working properly.

Crude oil is said to have leaked into the sea for two days after a valve at the platform, which is 315 miles north-east of Aberdeen, failed to close properly.
