FILM expert Andy Cannon gets ready to make a big noise in his role as chief explainer at Scotland's silent film festival.

The third Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema takes place in Bo'ness from March 13 to 17 and features premieres, commissions, screenings, exhibitions and workshops accompanied live in the cinema by an array of musicians and performers, including electronic ensemble Minima, who will perform a distinctive, haunting score for one of the first Japanese films shown in the West.
