A NURSE stood by as a patient whose heart stopped beating faced death, a professional hearing heard.

Anna Kacvmarek is said to have failed to perform basic life support for the patient, who had a cardiac arrest at Monklands Hospital in North Lanarkshire.

It is claimed she did not press the emergency buzzer and ignored requests to get an emergency trolley.

Papers from the Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing this week say that the incident happened in February 2012.

Ms Kacvmarek was suspended by the council after the incident, but according to the allegation published by the hearing, she got a job at Rosepark Care Home in Uddingston, without admitting she was under investigation by the health board and the council. She worked six shifts there.

The outcome of the hearing is expected today.

The owners of Rosepark Care Home declined to comment.

A fire at the care home in 2004 claimed the lives of 14 residents.
