The nurse who apparently took her own life after being duped by a prank call from two radio DJs to the hospital treating the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge reportedly left a suicide note criticising staff.

Jacintha Saldanha, 46, a mother-of-two, was found hanged in her quarters by a colleague and a security guard last Friday with marks on her wrist, an inquest at London's Westminster Coroner's Court heard.

Two notes were found in her room and another was among her possessions. It was reported last night her family have been given typed copies of them.

According to the reports, one deals with the hoax call from Sydney-based 2DayFM in which two presenters had posed as the Queen and the Prince of Wales.

Another is said to outline her requests for a funeral, and a third contains criticism of staff at the King Edward VII hospital in London

Detective Chief Inspector James Harman said: "On December 7, Jacintha Saldanha was found by a colleague and a member of security staff. Sadly she was found hanging.

"There was also injuries to her wrist. The London Ambulance Service was called to the scene. At this time there are no suspicious circumstances."

Police are examining phone calls and emails to see if they throw any light on the death, he added.

Mr Harman told the coroner, Dr Fiona Wilcox, that Scotland Yard detectives would be in contact with colleagues in Australia to interview witnesses to "put the best evidence before you" about the circumstances of the death.

The body of Ms Saldanha, from Bristol, had been identified by her husband Benedict Barboza.

Dr Wilcox, who said the next hearing will be on March 26, passed on her sympathies to the family and everyone else touched by the tragedy.
