The watchdog is considering proposals from Scottish Power and the National Grid for a subsea cable to be put in place to increase the transfer of renewable energy.
The “bootstrap” will run down the west coast from Hunterston, North Ayrshire, to Kelsterton in Deeside, north Wales, and will help to ease the heavily constrained circuits already in place.
