Opening the page on Book Week

FIVE-YEAR-OLD Edward Colvin from Dumfries helps to launch the first Book Week Scotland programme at the National Library of Scotland.

As part of the scheme, Scots are being encouraged to pick up their favourite book and take part in "reading hour" at 11am on St Andrew's Day.

Book Week Scotland will run from November 26 to December 2, with writers Iain Banks, Val McDermid and Christopher Brookmyre getting involved.
