Opera to coincide with 2014 Glasgow Games

ONE of Scotland's leading authors is to pen an opera which will coincide with the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Alexander McCall Smith, the writer behind the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, will create the libretto to The Friendship Oratorio – a project by Scottish Opera that will feature up and coming artists from seven Commonwealth countries. The opera will feature 100 young people and allow the different countries to offer up their own interpretation of friendship.
