A coastal nature reserve that's home to sea birds and rare plants is going to be covered in concrete by a huge industrial development backed by North Ayrshire Council.
Wildlife groups are furious that the council is promoting a plan for two power stations, a container terminal, a construction yard and renewable energy facilities which will destroy a legally protected conservation area.
Campaigns are being launched this week to try and persuade the council to change its mind, and protect the government-designated site of special scientific interest (SSSI) at Hunterson.
