PARTICK Thistle star Steven Lawless has received a two match playing ban after being found betting on 513 matches.

The Jags midfielder was charged with betting on 20 games in season 2012/13, 268 matches between September 2013 and April 2014 as well as 225 games between November and March 2015.

The SFA has said the player was found in breach of disciplinary rules and he will not now play again until next season. He also received a four-game suspended ban.

Partick Thistle said they accept the SFA decision and will not be appealing the decision.

A Partick Thistle spokesman said: "We're disappointed at Steven's poor judgement on this issue and have also taken our own internal disciplinary action in line with club policy.

"As a club we have reminded all our staff of the rules to which they must adhere and are also reviewing how we educate our employees on their responsibilities both on and off the pitch. With the hearing now behind us we consider this matter closed and will not be making any further comment at this time."
