A man was killed when the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree and landed on its roof.
The 25-year-old Spanish national was a passenger in the Volkswagen Passat when the collision happened on Drumcross Road in Bathgate, West Lothian, at about 10pm on Thursday. He died at the scene.
The 41-year-old driver has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is being held in police custody.
Three other passengers, aged 15, 24 and 25, and the driver, were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the crash, where they were treated for injuries, non of which were thought to be life threatening.
A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "We are appealing to anyone who was on Drumcross Road at the time of the incident, who either saw what happened or noticed the Volkswagen Passat in the area prior to the collision, to contact police.
"Anyone else who has any other information that can assist out inquiries should also get in touch."
