A pensioner who was hit by a lorry in a Borders town has died in hospital.

Pedestrian Marion Fair, 84, suffered serious injuries after being struck in Market Place, Selkirk, on the afternoon of Monday December 15.

Ms Fair, from Selkirk, was taken to Borders General Hospital in Melrose and then transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she died on Christmas Day.

The A7 was closed for several hours while emergency services responded to the incident and police carried out investigations.

Road policing officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision but who has not yet come forward to do so immediately.
