Peer facing food bank visits storm

A government peer has caused anger after that no ministers had made official visits to food banks since 2010.

Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Minister Lord de Mauley told the House of Lords there was no central record of ministerial visits since the Coalition Government came to power.

However, he later said ministers had visited FareShare, a charity supporting communities to relieve food poverty, and FoodCycle, which combines volunteers, surplus food and free kitchen space to create nutritious meals for people affected by food poverty.
