ONE has been dubbed the master of Tartan Noir and the other is a prolific author of London gangland novels.

Last night Christopher Brookmyre and Jake Arnott came together on the mean streets of Glasgow before chatting to an audience in the Mitchell Library as part of the Aye Write! Festival. Brookmyre, who hails from Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, is author of a number of hit novels, including Quite Ugly One Morning, while Arnott made his name with his popular series of hard-hitting novels about the gangland scene, including The Long Firm.

Brookmyre read from his new book Bedlam, about a nightmare world inside a video game.

Meanwhile, Arnott has recently released The House of Rumour.
