A 76-year-old man has been charged with firearms offences, police said.

Officers searched a property in Fallin, near Stirling, yesterday and recovered three shotguns, two air weapons and various items of ammunition.

The owner was not licensed to possess the weapons, Police Scotland said.

The man was expected to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court.

Inspector Donna Bryans said: "Thanks to vital information from the local community, our search of a home in Fallin resulted in the recovery of five firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

"These have now been seized and can no longer pose any risk to the public."
