A PENSIONER who demolished his six-bedroom dream home in Orkney to prevent his former lover seizing it over an unpaid loan has said he has "no regrets".

Paul Lawton, 66, originally from Yorkshire, was going through a divorce in 2010 when he began dating a woman he met on an internet dating website.

She loaned him £220,000 to pay his wife and finish the property, on the condition he would sell it to pay her back.

However, when they split last year he failed to find a buyer and his ex-lover sued him for the cash.

Mr Lawton, who now lives in a caravan next to the site, said: "I don't regret a thing."
