Pet ban for man after dog neglect

A MAN has been banned from keeping animals for life after neglecting his dog.

Stuart McCreadie, of Etive Place, Irvine, Ayrshire, was also fined £500 when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

McCreadie pled guilty to the charge of causing his 10-year-old German shepherd, named Zac, unnecessary suffering by failing to seek veterinary treatment for a large wound on his leg, which was so severe the dog had to be put down.

Zac was also found to be emaciated, unable to stand, with a matted coated due to discharge from his wound and a painful blood-filled swelling in his ear.

Inspector Janet Proudlock said: "We are pleased McCreadie has been given a ban on keeping animals as we believe it is an appropriate punishment."
