Petrol deliveries to islands hit by tides

This week's new moon is disrupting attempts to ease the ongoing fuel shortage on Uist and Barra.

Many filling stations have no diesel left and petrol is also running low.

Relief supplies are being temporarily ferried in by a road tanker which comes from Stornoway on Lewis.

But the low tides, caused by the autumn equinox at September's new moon, has resulted in a number of ferries being cancelled.
