Pilots call for action over lasers

PILOTS have called for tougher action on those who target aeroplanes with laser pens as it emerged four planes are hit every day.

The gadgets are being directed into the cockpits of pilots and dazzling them, which puts the lives of passengers at risk.

The figures, published by the Civil Aviation Authority, show fewer than 10 incidents were recorded in 2006 but last year across the UK there were 1570 "attacks" on planes.
