Plan for new hotel near Celtic Park submitted

LEISURE tycoon James Mortimer's company has lodged plans for a hotel in the vicinity of Celtic FC's stadium.

Mr Mortimer's Lynnet Leisure has submitted proposals for permission for the hotel, which would front on to London Road and sit alongside what is currently a B-listed primary school.

The application will now go to Glasgow City Council for outline approval, after which more details such as design and room numbers would be fleshed out. Sources at the council told The Herald it would make sense if Mr Mortimer's plans were to have the scheme up and running in time for the Commonwealth Games, the opening ceremony for which is at Celtic Park.
