Plane lands safely after engine fails

EMERGENCY crews were scrambled after a plane flying from Manchester to Glasgow suffered an engine failure and had to land with one propeller working.

BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, who was among the 44 passengers, said the captain announced the engine failure shortly before the Bombardier Q400 aircraft was due to land.

The pilot switched off the propeller during the flight after it suffered a "technical fault". After landing, the plane was met by emergency crews as a precaution, and all passengers disembarked safely.
