George Square Plan B: £500k for a new surface, flower beds, and statue lighting

Toned-down plans for the redevelopment of Glasgow's George Square have been revealed.

The development comes after Councillor George Matheson, leader of Glasgow City Council, scrapped an ambitious £15m redesign of the civic space at the eleventh hour.

Councillors will be asked on Thursday to agree minor improvements costing initially £500,000 which will be carried out in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
