Minnie Simpson, 74, has had security increased at her house in Ashgill, near Hamilton, after the housebreaker struck during the night while she was upstairs. The thief left with her purse, around £50 in cash, and a watch.
In November 2011 her husband Jimmy was killed by Christopher Grenfell, who smashed a window at their house and snatched keys to their 4x4. He then drove over Mr Simpson when he tried to stop him from escaping with the vehicle.
Speaking about the latest theft, Mrs Simpson said: "I could see muddy footprints on the living room carpet and realised that an intruder had been in the house.
"My son wanted me to move to Glasgow but I have so many great friends here. The police have been a great comfort to me and I can't speak highly enough about their support."
