The artists behind a series of coastal installations celebrating love poetry for the Olympics are looking for the nation's favourite love poems.

The director Deborah Warner's commission for the London 2012 Festival, created in collaboration with the noted actress Fiona Shaw, will create a series of "glowing encampments" at eight remote coastal locations in the UK, including Valtos on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and Fort Fiddes in Aberdeenshire.

The commission, called Peace Camp, will include submissions from poems suggested by the public to reflect the "languages, accents and dialects of every corner of the UK".

Those with ideas have been asked to contribute to the project's website, www.peacecamp2012.com.

Ms Warner's commission is inspired by the United Nations Olympic Truce, which calls on countries worldwide to lay down their arms for the duration of the Olympic Games.

Ms Warner said: "Above all, Peace Camp is a celebration of our astonishing coastline and great poetic tradition."

Ms Shaw said: "These islands have a strong tradition of poetry, of capturing human experiences with words."
