POLICE were called to a city library - after an argument over noise in the silent zone.

Officers went to Abertay University after claims a male student had been verbally abused.

As the man left the library, it is claimed a woman who was in the library's silent study zone asked him to keep the noise down.

An argument ensued between the two which continued outside the library.

Police were called by the man, and officers then examined library CCTv fotage. One onlooker said swear words had been used towards the man.

A spokesman for Abertay University said: "There was an incident - an argument in the library - over an issue of noise in the quiet study area."
