A teenager has died after the motorcycle he was travelling on crashed with a car.

The 19-year-old was a passenger on an off-road bike when the incident occurred in Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, yesterday evening.

The motorcycle was being ridden by a 17-year-old man when it collided with a Honda Civic at around 6.35pm, Police Scotland said.

The passenger struck the road and was pronounced dead at the scene in Craigbank Street .

The rider was taken to Wishaw General Hospital and treated for a serious hand injury.

The 37-year-old male car driver was not injured but has been left "very upset".
