Charlotte Louise Tennant, 20, from Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, is believed to have been struck by a vehicle on the A90 near the town, where she was discovered at about 8am yesterday.
Grampian Police closed the road for over nine hours yesterday to allow an investigation to take place.
