A POLICE officer has been found dead at a police station in Alloa.

The 29-year-old woman, thought to be from the Dum-barton area, was discovered at around 7.40pm on Saturday evening at Alloa Police Office in Mar Place.

An investigation has since been launched but it appears as though there are no suspicious circumstances.

It is understood that no firearm was involved in the officer's death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A full investigation into the circumstances is currently under way and a report will be submitted to the procurator-fiscal, however, at this time, there would appear to be no ­suspicious circumstances surrounding her death."

The Scottish Police ­Federation expressed its condolences to her family and said it had officials with them.
