Police constable Andrew Bramma, 32, a married father of two young sons, died in the accident in West Tanfield, near Ripon, North Yorkshire at around 7pm on Saturday.
He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was responding to reports of a road accident at the time for the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
