Police are investigating the death of a man in a house fire.

Emergency services were called to Ravenscraig Road, Peterhead, at around 3pm yesterday.

Firefighters found the body of man inside the house and police said the death is being treated as unexplained.

Officers are working to establish the cause of the fire.

Inspector Simon Reid said: "Police along with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended a property in Ravenscaig Road following reports of a fire at a domestic property.

"Sadly, the body of a male has been found within the property and the cause of death remains unexplained at this time.

"A joint Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances of the fire."
