An indecent assault in the Scottish capital on New Year's Day is being investigated by police.

A woman was attacked at a bus stop in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers in the city have urged anyone with information to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a report of indecent assault.

"The incident happened around 3.20pm on New Year's Day at a bus stop in the Gorgie area of the city.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information that can assist officers with their investigation is asked to come forward."
