The woman who was found dead in a Highland loch has been identified as coming from Cumbria and police have confirmed she did not die in suspicious circumstances.

Sandra Davison, 52, from Kendal was found a week ago in Loch Morlich, a popular beauty spot and water sports centre between Aviemore and the Cairngorms ski slopes.

Police recovered her body and described her as white, 40 to 60, 5'6" to 5'8", of stocky build with brown hair with blonde streaks. She was wearing a black jacket, black jeans, a white blouse and pink high top trainers. She had distinctive fingernail artwork which was alternately coloured in bright pink and bright blue with diamante gems.

But there was nothing on her body which gave her name. As part their inquiries to identify her and trace her last-known movements, police issued CCTV footage which showed her within the Glenmore Shop and Pinemartin Bar, near the loch, at about 7pm on Sunday August 31. As a result police were contacted by her family.

A force spokesman said: "We can now confirm the identity of the woman as: Sandra Davison, 52, from Kendal, Cumbria. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the procurator -fiscal."
