The Scottish Government revealed yesterday that Strathclyde Police, which accounts for about half of all the country’s officers, had signalled it is ready to recruit some 100 fully vetted candidates who were put on hold last year.
Three police forces, including Scotland’s largest, have signalled they are to resume recruitment, giving the SNP Government hope that its promise on officer numbers will be met.
