Policeman is killed in crash

A POLICE officer has died in an early morning road accident in the Scottish Borders.

The constable's motorcycle was in collision with a bus at around 7am yesterday on the A6105 road near Earlston, Berwickshire.

The road was closed for several hours because of the accident.

It is not known if the officer - believed to be stationed at Galashiels - was on duty at the time.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene."
