The Clyde 1 host, 44, denies assaulting husband Derek Mitchell in their home in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, on December 8, 2012.
Yesterday at Paisley Sheriff Court, it emerged she has been diagnosed as suffering from a mental illness.
Iain Fleming, defending Ms McGuire in her absence, told Sheriff Susan Sinclair: "She has been diagnosed with a major depressive disorder."
Ms McGuire was due to go on trial next month and the case had been continued from last week, when Ms McGuire was also absent.
Yesterday Mr Fleming said it had been hoped "a timeframe could be identified" during that adjournment, but he said that had since changed.
He told the court he had since received a letter from a consultant psychologist that suggested reviewing the situation in three months.
Susan Brown, prosecuting, asked for the case to be continued one week, saying: "I will seek to carry out further investigations into the assessment."
Sheriff Sinclair granted the continuation, and adjourned the case until September 4.
