Malawi is open for business, the country's president has told members of the Scottish Parliament.

President Joyce Banda told Holyrood that Scottish investors could take advantage of opportunities in agriculture, tourism, energy and mining in the south-east African country,

She spoke in the Parliament's chamber during an official visit to the UK that coincides with the bicentenary celebrations of the birth of missionary Dr David Livingstone.

She said: "I wish to invite the Scottish investors to come and invest in Malawi. Malawi is open for business and the people of Scotland are invited to join us on this journey towards prosperity."
