Priest defiant in face of eviction attempts

A SUSPENDED priest is facing legal action to remove him from his parish house.

Father Matthew Despard, who has not taken services at St John Ogilvie Church in High Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, since November, is allegedly refusing to leave the presbytery house. Father Despard has written a book alleging a culture of homosexual bullying within the Catholic Church in Scotland. The church has asked him to live outside the area amid proceedings against him.
