Proof is in the painting

GUIDES at The Burrell Collection in Glasgow have turned detective to examine works credited to the French artist Jean-François Millet.

The paintings are being brought together for the first time as the museum prepares a catalogue of Sir William Burrell's collection of 19th-century French art.

Jean-François Millet – Under Investigation will question whether the artist was responsible for all the works credited to him. Fakes began appearing following his death in 1875, with Millet's grandson Jean-Charles Millet and an accomplice, Paul Cazot, jailed for their crimes.
