Protesters in Highland cattle claim

RESIDENTS in Glasgow's South Side could chain themselves to Highland cows in protest against a housing development.

People living near the former Leverndale Hospital site are angry that Miller Homes has been granted permission to build 265 homes on a site used for grazing Glasgow City Council's Highland cattle herd.

Councillor David McDonald said: "They don't want to see them moved and so some jokingly suggested chaining themselves to the cows as a protest.

"I wouldn't be surprised if they went through with it."

Work on the development is due to start this summer.
