Over 250 men and women of the RAF at Leuchars have taken part in a march to bid farewell to their local community.

The Fife air base is to be handed over to the Army by 2015, with its jets being moved to RAF Lossiemouth.

RAF Leuchars personnel marched through St Andrews as a Typhoon from No 6 Squadron delivered a salute from the air.

Station Commander at RAF Leuchars, Air Commodore Gerry Mayhew, said: "I speak for all Royal Air Force Leuchars personnel, past and present, when I say we are profoundly grateful to the community we have been proud to serve, and proud to call home, for nearly a century."
