Olympic swimming champ Rebecca Adlington has taken the plunge by marrying - and told how her stint on I'm A Celebrity got her in shape for the big day.

The medal-winning star has tied the knot with fellow swimmer Harry Needs and called him "the love of my life".

In an interview with Hello! magazine she said: "I lost nearly two stone in the jungle and perhaps another four or five pounds since then. So it was a great kick start, and I feel better for it.

"But I don't like it when people assume you're really happy because you're thin," Adlington added.

"I'm not suddenly confident because I have lost weight, I'm happy because I'm marrying the love of my life."

Adlington, who won two golds at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and a pair of bronzes at London 2012, was a contestant on ITV's I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here last year.

She married Needs at rural wedding venue The Ashes set in 50 acres of Staffordshire countryside and she wore a Stewart Parvin dress for the ceremony, for which they wrote their own vows.

"The ceremony was so personal, which was exactly what we wanted," she said.

Adlington went on: "I love the fact Harry was in bits before I even reached him. I was a bit nervous in the car on the way here with my dad, but as soon as I walked in, my nerves melted and I relaxed. The room was just so full of love."

Needs said: "I compliment her every single day, because to me she is the most beautiful woman in the world."
