Record takings for Bond

James Bond hit Skyfall has become the highest grossing film ever at the UK box office.

In just 40 days it has taken £94.28 million to surpass the previous record-holder, Avatar.

The 23rd 007 adventure, starring Daniel Craig, pictured, as the suave secret service agent, was released in the final week of October and has been a huge success around the world.

James Cameron's epic Avatar took £94.03m over an 11-month period following its release in late 2009.

The 007 movie series celebrated a milestone this year with the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie Dr No.
